Driving schools and driving lessons in Dublin

79 driving schools with a checked website, by area and by test centre. Compare EDT lessons, manual or automatic and the prices each school publishes, then contact the school directly. No booking fee, no commission, no paid rankings.

Step one

Start with your test centre

The RSA lists seven car test centres for Dublin. Schools that teach nearby practise on the roads around it. Pick it and we show the schools that say they prepare learners for it.

How it works

Twelve lessons. One test. Zero guesswork.

1

Choose your test centre

Dublin has seven RSA centres. Instructors who teach around yours know the roundabouts, the box junctions and the roads around the centre.

2

Compare what schools publish

Every listing shows what the school says on its own site: areas, transmission, EDT and pre-test, and the price where it publishes one. No hidden fees, no paid ranking.

3

Contact the school directly

We never sit between you and the instructor. Call, WhatsApp or book on their site, and the whole price goes to them.

Learner questions

Before your first lesson

How many EDT lessons do I need?

Twelve. Essential Driver Training is a mandatory course of 12 one-hour lessons with an RSA-approved instructor, logged on the MyEDT portal before you can sit the test.

Which Dublin test centre should I pick?

The RSA lists seven for Dublin: Killester, Tallaght, Leixlip, Dún Laoghaire/Deansgrange, Mulhuddart, Finglas and Mulhuddart Maple House. Waiting times differ, and local schools usually practise on the roads around their nearest centre.

Manual or automatic?

A licence gained in an automatic only lets you drive automatics. If you may need a manual car later, learn manual now. Listings show which transmission each school offers.

How do you check schools?

Every school listed has its own website, which we fetch and check for the school's name, a Dublin location and driving-school services before we write a description from it. Nothing here comes from the RSA's register, which is not open data.
